The Artistic Community, a place synonymous with creativity and inventivness, is situated between the Sierra Maestra (symbol of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution) and the Carribean, 10 minutes from the Verraco and Larga beaches and the coral reefs. With only one telephone for 13 artist’s residences forget emails or, for that matter, a simple internet connection. In exchange, we have peace. The Community is the ideal place to kick the habit of reaching for the smartphone and spending hours on social media.
Biosphere reserves are zones that include terrestrial, marine and coastal ecosystems. Each reserve selects solutions that accommodate conservation of the biodiversity and it’s durable utilization.
Reserves are sites of support for science at the service of durability—special areas for testing interdisciplinary approaches in order to comprehend and manage the changes and interactions between social and ecological systems, including the prevention of conflicts in the management of the biodiversity.
Biosphere reserve candidatures are presented by all national governments and remain under the sovereign jurisdiction of the states where they are to be found. Their status is recognized internationally.
